The Greater Is Coming

Part 2-The Beaten

Last weekend, we talked about the SHAKING and explained that shaking was used as the method of choice for removing olives from their branches. We explained that God shakes up our circumstances to disconnect us from certain people and things. His shaking is an indication that those things were important to us for a season but in the season to come, he is shaking them loose.

Today, your greater is still coming but after God has shaken us loose, the beating must begin.

A fresh grape is an awesome treat right off the vine. Some of us want our lives to be like grapes. But even a grape can become more valuable after it has been crushed, fermented and aged. Yes, a great grape can become a greater grape in the hands of a skilled wine maker.

Unlike the grape, a fresh olive right off the vine is worthless. Olive oil is and always has been extremely valuable. But before you can get from the bitter fruit to the precious oil, some things have to happen. The potential of the olive has to be released and this happens within the process.

The majority of us do not like to be beaten, I know I don't but we must learn and understand that it's a part of the process. For example, the process of getting from the gutter to greatness is like childbirth. There is that joy-filled season when you learn that there is a new life growing inside of you. Then there’s the season of morning sickness when you want to devour everything in sight but nothing will stay down. Then comes that final hour before birth…your water breaks…its all out of your hands…the pain is more intense than it has ever been…and in an instant, what was once just a gleam in your eye is now a set of eyes looking directly at you and at last, you realize that this moment of joy is greater than the 9 months of discomfort and the 9 hours of birth pain that preceded it. I just want you to know that no matter what you’re facing right now…the Greater is Coming!
